World Forum of Local Economic Development 2025 in Sevilla

As the world faces growing challenges, including insufficient progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), rising inequality, and the accelerating climate crisis, the Forum will bring together more than 2,000 global actors from governments, international organizations, academia, civil society, and the private sector. Together, they will explore territorial solutions to ensure that economic transitions are inclusive, sustainable, and fair.

A Territorial Focus for Global Impact

The VI WFLED will focus on local economic development as the driving force behind sustainable and inclusive growth. The Forum will address global priorities through a territorial lens, including:

• Just Transition: Ensuring decent work while addressing the ecological, digital, and demographic transitions.
• Financing for Development: Exploring innovative financial models to close social and economic gaps.
• Caring Local Economies: Building equitable and resilient societies through welfare-centered economic models.

The Forum will provide a platform to exchange experiences and best practices on:

• Advancing social justice through decent work.
• Managing the social impacts of just transitions on territories.
• Strengthening the social and solidarity economy.
• Supporting the transition from the informal to the formal economy.
• Advancing gender equity, food sovereignty, and sustainable water management.

A Global Coalition of Change

Since its inception, the WFLED has been a reference platform for transforming development from the ground up. It is co-organized by key international actors, including:

• Fondo Andaluz de Municipios por la Solidaridad Internacional (FAMSI)
• United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG)
• United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
• Forum of Global Associations of Regions (ORU FOGAR)
• Global Fund for the Development of Cities (FMDV)

The Forum is hosted by Seville City Council, the Provincial Council of Seville, the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP), the Regional Government of Andalusia, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of Spain.
