The World Employment Programme: Interview with Louis Emmerij

In an interview conducted last year, Louis Emmerij described the unique role the World Employment Programme (WEP) played in the evolution of the ILO's history and how lessons learned from this experience could provide pointers in shaping a future employment agenda. Mr. Emmerij, a leading figure in international development policy and research, was the Director of the WEP from 1971 to 1976, and gave the interview during an event held in June of 2019 to mark the programme's 50th anniversary. He passed away on 26 November 2019 at the age of 84.
