TB affects people in the most productive age group with catastrophic economic impact on the patient and their family. The high financial burden – loss of wages, treatment and other expenses – coupled with the psycho-social impacts of TB deter a patient from taking proper treatment. A supportive workplace environment can play a key role in ensuring that workers with TB seek timely diagnosis and proper and complete treatment.
