#WOMENOFWSCANDOIT Scholarship Programme

The #WOMENOFWSCANDOIT Scholarship Programme is a collaborative skills training and employment/livelihood/reintegration support initiative for women overseas filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, that is jointly implemented by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-National Capital Region (TESDA-NCR), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration - National Reintegration Center for OFWS (OWWA-NRCO), ILO Women in STEM Workforce Readiness and Development Programme, and the ILO-UN Women Safe and Fair Programme in the Philippines. The scholarship seeks to provide women migrant workers (returnees, on-site, potential) or their family members, with critical soft and technical STEM-related skills, other technical-vocational skills, and employability and leadership training coupled with post-training support to help women gain quality employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

What Courses are available?

CREATIVE WEB DESIGN
Nominal duration: 102 hours

This course is designed to teach the new students to become web designers. From graphic design equipped with basic knowledge in design application software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, in Design as well as design elements and principles. This course is task-based and will help future web designers to create a dynamic web design by learning the four courses offered, Wordpress for Web Lay-outing, Photoshop & Illustrator for digital editing of all the images, art illustration you will use for your Web design page. This course is task-based, and focuses on best practices and design, stressing the importance of usability. Which will help you become a good web designer.

PROGRAMMING (JAVA) NC III
Nominal duration: 240 Hours

This TESDA Course is delivered in cooperation with Oracle’s Workforce Development Program (WDP). Oracle Corporation launched WDP to address the continued global information technology (IT) worker shortage and need for accessible and low cost IT skills training.

It consists of competencies that a person must achieve to develop or write program codes using a personal computer or workstation as part of a systems development team. It includes core competencies on programming language on Java, such as to develop command-line/console and desktop applications and to develop enterprise/web applications using Java technology.

This course is designed to develop & enhance the knowledge, skills, & attitudes of a programmer in accordance with industry standards. It covers the basic, common & core competencies on programming language, specifically Java. The nominal duration of 240 hours covers the required units at Java Programming NC III. TVET providers can however, offer a longer, ladderized course covering the basic, common and core plus specialized competency unit/s.

The #WOMENOFWSCANDOIT Scholarships for 2021 consist of more than 350 scholarship slots in trainings in information communications technology, tourism and transportation. At least nine (9) tech-vocational courses are on offer, which will run between April and June 2021. Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, most of the courses are conducted fully online; while some (NCR-based courses) are blended (a few on-site sessions or skills assessment). TESDA scholarships are provided to enable the women to take the courses for free, and earn their National Certificates (NC) or Training Certificates (TC) upon completion of the course.

Follow-through soft skills and job preparedness training (e.g. leadership and job-related skills; safety and health at work, labor rights and decent work standards, and freedom from violence and harassment) and links to reintegration/employment partners are provided by ILO and OWWA-NRCO; livelihood and reintegration packages and support are provided by NRCO and relevant agencies or providers to qualified applicants.
