Despite being a curable disease tuberculosis remains one of the leading causes of death, worldwide. In 2016, there were an estimated 1.3 million TB deaths among HIV-negative people and an additional 374,000 deaths among HIV-positive people. Most deaths from TB could be prevented with early diagnosis and appropriate treatment (WHO World TB Report 2017). TB is curable if the treatment regimen is followed and completed.
