ILO Training package on the Code of practice on safety and health in forestry work
This training package offers a flexible and comprehensive resource for everyone involved in forestry work, including, among others, employers, workers and their representatives, and labour inspectors.
The forestry sector offers strong potential for growth and employment, yet significant decent work gaps remain, particularly regarding occupational safety and health (OSH).Ensuring OSH is key to protecting workers’ safety and well-being and supporting business sustainability. Evidence shows that integrating OSH principles from the earliest design phase leads to safer workplaces and higher-quality results.
This training package draws on the ILO Code of practice on safety and health in forestry work. It is designed to support national implementation of the code and to promote the fundamental right to a safe and healthy working environment in the sector.
This training package offers a flexible and comprehensive resource for everyone involved in forestry work – including employers, workers and their representatives, labour inspectors, as well as other stakeholders in the forestry work sector.
Developed in a modular format, it can be adapted to different national contexts and training needs. It consists of eight modules with educational content, interactive activities, and practical examples, along with an instructor’s manual that guides effective use and delivery.
Designed as a global tool, the package is open to continuous improvement, and the ILO welcomes feedback from the OSH community.
