The ILO supports the Arab states in developing skills, policies and systems that are gender inclusive.
Gender is mainstreamed across all ILO programmes on skills development and employment promotion, both at policy and project level. The ILO has worked with government, employers, workers, NGOs and civil society to strengthen both formal and non-formal provision of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and ensure that the design and delivery of such programmes is gender responsive. In Yemen, Jordan and Lebanon women have received training to help them work as stitchers or establish their own businesses as confectioners and even plumbers.
