Rethinking informal economy in the Arab region: Workshop Report
While Arab countries are looking at sound socio-economic policies that take into consideration the evolving situation in the region, the ILO and UNDP took this opportunity to keep the issue of the informal economy high on the agenda.

The pro-market reforms introduced in the Arab region since the 1980s have failed to generate decent jobs and quality social services. They were deficient in that they increased fiscal burdens through economic mismanagement and resulted in slow productivity growth, low competitiveness, and limited promotion of gender equality.
