This document has been prepared to support consideration by the Governing Body of how the humancentred
approach articulated in the ILO Centenary Declaration for the Future of Work might best be
brought to bear on the extraordinary challenges of recovery that the COVID-19 crisis poses to the world of
work. In view of the urgency and dimension of the current circumstances, it makes the case for framing
the ILO’s contribution to the recovery within an overarching initiative to facilitate an integrated response
to the crisis (see the draft decision in paragraph 44).
