Decision concerning the reduction of posts within the contingency framework for the 2026–27 biennium

The Governing Body:

(a) noted the information on the financial position of the ILO and the amount of savings required as indicated in paragraph 18 of GB.357bis/PFA/1;

(b) approved a reduction of up to 73 posts, on the basis of the estimate and the approach presented in paragraph 19 of GB.357bis/PFA/1, acknowledging that this is required by the necessities of the service in the context of the contingency framework, that priority be accorded to agreed terminations, and that all reasonable efforts will be made to avert or minimize involuntary terminations;

(c) requested the Director-General to report at its 358th Session (November 2026) on the implementation of this decision under agenda item GB.358/PFA/4 and to present an update on the financial situation and savings outlook, the implementation of the voluntary contingency measures, the workforce adjustment process, as well as any additional contingency measures that may be required.
