Decision concerning the action to be taken regarding the election and appointment of the Director-General

The Governing Body decided to apply the following timetable for the appointment of the Director-General and approved the arrangements for the public interactive event with candidates, as well as for the private hearings and the election described in Appendix I to document GB.356/INS/20/1(Rev.1):
| 15 April 2026 | The Chairperson of the Governing Body calls for candidatures |
| 31 August 2026 | Deadline for the receipt of candidatures |
| 23 September 2026 | Public interactive event with all candidates (which could be extended by one more day depending on the number of candidates.) |

| Monday, 9 November | Candidate(s) hearings in private sitting |
| Monday, 16 November | Election by secret ballot in private sitting |
| 1 October 2027 | The term of office of the Director-General commences. |
