Decision concerning the draft key messages of the tripartite input to the Second World Summit for Social Development (2025)

The Governing Body:

(a) adopted the key messages of the tripartite input to the Second World Summit for Social Development prepared by the Working Party on a New Social Contract for Our Common Agenda, which are contained in the Appendix of document GB.352/INS/21/1(Rev.2);

(b) requested the Director-General to transmit the key messages to the co-facilitators of the intergovernmental preparatory process leading up to the Second World Summit for Social Development, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs and the United Nations Secretary-General;

(c) requested constituents to transmit the key messages to the representatives of their governments involved in the intergovernmental negotiations on the political declaration to be adopted by the Second World Summit for Social Development;

(d) requested the Office to keep the Working Party informed over the course of the intergovernmental negotiations on the political declaration to help ensure coherence and the timely inclusion of key messages in the declaration;

(e) instructed the Working Party to prepare a draft resolution on the tripartite input to the Second World Summit for Social Development, highlighting the role that the ILO and its constituents could play in the implementation of the Summit’s outcome, for examination by the Governing Body at its 353rd Session (March 2025) and transmission to the International Labour Conference for adoption at its 113th Session (2025).
