Responsible business conduct in Myanmar fisheries sector

World exports of fish and fish products reached US$ 162 billion, representing 37% of total fish production. The top exporting countries were China, followed by Norway, Viet Nam and India. The European Union was the largest importer with a share of 33%. This was followed by United States (15%) and Japan (11%). The fish global value chain can be divided into three levels (SLD 2016): (i) sourcing and production of raw materials; (ii) processing and exporting; and (iii) import and distribution.
