Filipino migrants continue to reside and work across the globe, sending vital support to their families in the Philippines. Their economic contributions remain a primary driver of national economic development.
As they navigate their lives overseas, Filipino migrant workers must first and foremost be guaranteed decent work and fair living conditions. To address these needs, Paris-based, socio-civic organization Asosasyong Sangguniang Filipino (ASF) - led by migrant rights and welfare champion Zita Cabais, together with dedicated volunteers and partners - has produced a comprehensive handbook promoting a safe, informed, and empowered life for Filipino workers in France. This publication serves as a key reference for cultural and administrative integration, safe labour practices across various industries, and practical guidance to uphold human and labour rights in daily migrant life.
The Filipino Migrant in France: A Handbook Towards Decent Work and Fair Living Conditions updates and expands upon the original guide published in 2012. This handbook was produced with the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO) office for France.
It is important to keep in mind that the handbook is only a reference and does not replace official and legal documents and procedures. As immigration provisions continue to evolve, the readers are encouraged to consult official platforms freely accessible and provided by relevant government offices.
The responsibility for opinions expressed in signed articles, studies and other contributions rests solely with their authors, and publication does not constitute an endorsement by the International Labour Office of the opinions expressed in them.
The handbook is provided free of charge and may not be sold or redistributed for profit.
