The National Social Protection Policy 2024 - 2029
The National Social Protection Policy (NSPP) provides a framework for the identification, design, implementation and monitoring of social protection interventions in Malawi. Building on the 2012 National Social Support Policy, its overarching goal is to reduce poverty and empower the poor to overcome poverty and vulnerability.

Thus, social protection encompasses social assistance, social insurance, social welfare services, labor market policies, as well as a variety of public and private instruments aimed at eradicating poverty, addressing vulnerability, and combating social exclusion.
