Mr. Ian Orton
Specialist, Social Protection and Occupational Safety and Health

Mr Ian Orton hails from the United Kingdom and joined the ILO Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean as a Specialist in Social Protection and Occupational Safety and Health in October 2024.
Previously, Ian worked for the Universal Social Protection Department of the ILO in Geneva for 5 years as a Social Protection Policy Officer. Prior to that, he worked in social protection for UNICEF, BRAC and the International Social Security Association. Before embarking on a career with international organizations, he taught political theory and sociology at Goldsmiths University, the University of Greenwich and La Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico City.
Ian holds a PhD in Philosophy, a master's degree in Critical Theory and a postgraduate degree in Higher and Further Education.
