During the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development on 21 August 2025, workers, employers and NGOs representatives, together with ILO and UNDRR will explore how to integrate decent work and social justice into disaster risk management policies, addressing inequalities exacerbated by climate change, natural hazards, conflicts and displacement.
Jobs and livelihoods, enhancing resilience: A means to address root causes of protracted crises
This event highlights the ILO's value in strengthening resilience against crises through job creation, work-based learning and local capacity building, showcasing best practices aligned with the Sendai Framework.
The event will inform policymakers on how to integrate social justice, local investments, and appropriate technologies into disaster risk management policies and strategies which could be replicated or scaled up. The event will outline actions for a more resilient, peaceful and equitable future of African countries, fostering peaceful coexistence of displaced persons and host communities.
