The ILO, through the ACCEL Africa project, encourages gold miners to organize themselves into cooperatives, which would not only improve the economic situation of parents, but also offer them protection and assistance from the government. By joining cooperatives, workers can access support, information, and connections with formal enterprises, leading to improved working conditions and better livelihoods.
