OFID-Senegal

The informal economic sector contributes significantly to the Senegalese livelihood. However, over 80% of the active members of this sector are illiterate, poor, and mobile, contributing to their HIV vulnerabilities. The ILO-OFID programme supported Senegal in developing tripartite national workplace policies and strategies for the mining and tourism sectors; a training manual and checklist for labour inspectors to apply a legal framework for HIV at the workplace; and piloted workplace HIV and TB prevention in four hospitals to improve occupational safety, health and decent work environment for the health sector workforce by applying a new ILO tool—HealthWISE.
