The HIV prevalence continues to rise from 2000 to 2010 with 83% of the reported HIV cases among those 15 to 44 years of age. Of these, 62% are men and mostly in Santa Cruz (54%), Cochabamba (19%) and La Paz (16%). Under the ILO-OFID partnership programme in 2009, the Code of Practice on HIV for the World of Work has been promoted through the tripartite committee to the Labour ministry, employers’ and workers’ organization in these high prevalence areas, in addition to strengthening HIV knowledge and capacity of these social partners to promote implementation of HIV workplace programmes.
