The OSH Thesaurus contains about 15,000 terms and synonyms on occupational safety and health in English, French and Spanish arranged hierarchically by subject.
It is a reference tool to search the on-line version of the ILO Encyclopaedia of Occupational Health and Safety, the ILO-WHO International Chemical Safety Cards database and the CISDOC bibliographic database.
The OSH Thesaurus can also be used as a translation tool - the terms are presented in three languages, English, French and Spanish - and as a cataloguing tool - the terms are presented by subject in a hierarchical structure of facets. It also offers key words or metatags for HTML files.
The terms are organized hierarchically according to their specificity. Each term is associated with a facet code, which is a combination of letters or numbers that indicates the place of the term in the hierarchy.
The on-line version of the OSH Thesaurus database is available for searching and browsing in the hierarchy of terms.
