The ILO project “Supporting a National Employment Strategy that Works for Youth in Jordan” aims at improving the implementation of the National Employment Strategy through (a) capacity building of stakeholders for its implementation at national and regional level and (b) the strengthening of workplace based learning practices with the set-up of a national apprenticeship system, and upgrading of informal apprenticeship practices in northern governorates.
As part of building the capacities of the social partners on apprenticeship, two separate training workshops were conducted, one for trade unions and the other for employers, with the following specific expected outcomes:
Building common concepts on apprenticeship among the social partners.
Presenting case studies of designing and implementation of apprenticeships across the world.
Discussing the key elements of quality apprenticeship that works for Jordan.
The first workshop conducted on 9th – 11th Nov. 2015 and was attended by representatives of the General Federation for Jordan Trade Unions (GFJTU) and the independent trade unions.
The second workshop conducted on 23th – 25th Nov. 2015 and was attended by representatives of the chambers of commerce, chambers of industry employer associations, individual employers.
