Workshop enhances cassation appeal drafting skills of the Armenian Health and Labour Inspection Body officials

YEREVAN (ILO News) - on 19 December 2024 a pivotal workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of officials in drafting cassation appeals was held at the Health and Labour Inspection Body (HLIB) office in Yerevan. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the PILRAT Project of the International Labour Organization (ILO), underscores a commitment to strengthening the legal and procedural frameworks of Armenia's labour inspection system.

Anna Mkrtumyan, Deputy Head of HLIB, emphasized the importance of the training, stating: “The workshop was highly productive. Even as today marks the conclusion of this training, we are eager to immediately integrate the knowledge and skills gained into our ongoing work.”

Satenik Suqiasyan, Leading Lawyer in the Department of Legal Aid at HLIB, reflected on the practical nature of the training: “This training not only imparted valuable knowledge and skills but also emphasized their practical application. We learned a range of legal techniques that will undoubtedly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our duties, making our work more targeted and impactful.”

The workshop agenda included a comprehensive guide to drafting cassation appeals, in-depth case study analyses, and interactive discussion sessions. Participants actively engaged in exchanging insights on challenges and best practices, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Arnold Vardanyan, National Consultant for the PILRAT Project, highlighted, “What stood out to me was how participants worked on actual appeals previously prepared by the Legal Aid Department. Through collaborative discussions, we identified better approaches for structuring appeals, refining formulations, and improving targeted presentations. This hands-on experience equipped them with practical skills they are ready to implement in their daily responsibilities.”

The workshop not only equipped attendees with critical practical skills but also facilitated dialogue on enhancing legal clarity and procedural efficiency. It aligns with ongoing efforts to reinforce the institutional capacity of Armenia's labour inspection system, ensuring fair and transparent enforcement of labour laws.
