Working children mark World Day Against Child Labour with theatrical performance

The Lebanese Ministry of Labour, in partnership with the ILO and the Beyond Association, will host a theatrical performance by child labourers in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley to mark the World Day Against Child Labour. Over 60 children trained by the ILO’s Supporting Children's Rights through Education, the Arts and the Media - SCREAM programme will perform a series of theatrical sketches to express their plight as both refugees and child labourers in Lebanon. The performance is expected to attract hundreds of attendees including members of the National Steering Committee to Combat Child Labour, representatives from international organizations, government officials, the general public as well as working children and children at risk.

The event is part of ongoing efforts under Lebanon’s National Action Plan to Eliminate the Worst Forms of Child Labour by 2016 as well as those to raise awareness of child labour, particularly among Syrian refugees and children living and working in the streets.
