Various National Events were Organized regarding “Future of Work ” by the ILO Office for Turkey
Center of Public Employment Institutions of Southeast European Countries (CPESSEC) 15th Executive and 14th Expert Meetings, were held in Istanbul on 6-7th December and hosted by Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) who holds 2016 Term Presidency of World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) and CPESSEC.
Center of Public Employment Institutions of Southeast European Countries (CPESSEC) 15th Executive and 14th Expert Meetings, were held in Istanbul on 6-7th December and hosted by Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) who holds 2016 Term Presidency of World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) and CPESSEC. High level representatives of Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Numan Ozcan - Director of ILO Office for Turkey attended to the meeting including the representatives, and many other guests such as directors and representatives of Public Employments Agencies of 10 countries and academics. In the meeting, Mr. Özcan delivered a presentation titled “The Future of Work and its Effects on Labour Market” and briefed the participants about the purpose and content of Future of Work Initiative carried out by the ILO, effects of changing working life on the workforce and demographics, globalization, climate change and the effect of technology on workforce which are defined as mega drivers of change.
Another activity which ILO Office for Turkey participated in was the seminar titled “Impacts of Technology on Future of Work” on 9th December at Bilkent University which was open to the participation of all university students. Approximately 60 students attended to the seminar and showed great interest. Mr. Özcan mentioned the purpose and content of “Future of Work Initiative”’ as well as the evolving workforce structure destroying some works with the effect of technology while also creating new job fields, positive and negative ideas of the relevant parties. Mr. Özcan also talked about the four main themes of “Future of Work Initiative” being work and society, decent jobs for all, organization of work and production, governance of work; and the content of each.
ILO Office for Turkey will continue its efforts to inform the relevant parties regarding “Future of Work Initiative” in various events at national level.
