USDOL grants ILO 3 million USD to support youth apprenticeship in Kenya
The United States Department of Labor (USDOL) has granted the International Labour Organization USD 3 million to support youth skills development activities and apprenticeships programs in Kenya.

NAIROBI (ILO News) – The United States Department of Labor (USDOL) has awarded the International labour Organization (ILO) US$ 3 million to improve Kenya’s capacity to provide workplace-based training programs and apprenticeships to vulnerable and marginalized youth.
This four-year project will support the improvement of laws or policies related to apprenticeship for vulnerable youth, help businesses and workers’ organizations implement best practices related to workplace-based training for youth, and improve the quality of existing programs providing vulnerable youth with prerequisite skills they need to enter apprenticeship and other workplace-based training programs.
The announcement was officially made by U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez on 14 November 2016.
This grant is further supported by a $1.4 million Department of Labor project with the Global Apprenticeships Network.
Through this grant, the GAN will create and support private sector networks in support of youth apprenticeship in Argentina, Costa Rica, and Kenya.
