Turkish Conversation Workshop Beneficiaries Visit Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Social Security
The beneficiaries of the Turkish Conversation Workshop under the Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls” being implemented in Gaziantep by the ILO Office for Turkey in cooperation with UN Women and ASAM paid a visit to Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Social Security.

The beneficiaries of the workshop who wish to improve their Turkish language skills under the work of SADA Women Development and Solidarity Centre usually practise daily Turkish on the streets. Benefiting from interactive training methods, beneficiaries usually go to bazaars, shopping centres, hospitals, parks and public institutions. The women beneficiaries of the workshop paid their first visit on 2 May 2019 to Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Social Security to get to know public institutions, how to benefit from their services and how to file applications.
SGK Inspector Mehmet Aliko welcomed the Syrian beneficiaries, 32 in total visiting as one group in the morning and another in the afternoon. The visiting women took a tour of all SGK units accompanied by Mr. Aliko, and obtained information on the tasks of each department.
In this context, they had opportunity to meet and ask questions to SGK officers of the legal unit on execution, experts, inspectors, branch offices. SGK officers diligently answered the questions which mostly focused on eliciting information on the mission and vision of SGK, scope of universal health insurance, optional insurance, whether there is optional insurance for refugees, eligibility requirements for retirement, eligibility requirements for housewives to become insured, how to benefit from the social services on account of an insured spouse, eligibility requirements for establishing the monthly stipend for widows and orphans, where and how an uninsured refugee might file complaints.
Mr. Mehmet Uzun, Provincial Director of SGK, received the beneficiaries of the workshop in his office and provided information on the duties and responsibilities of SGK and obtained information on the work of SADA Women Centre.
