Tripartite delegation discussed HIV/AIDS prevention in the Altai krai.
On January 23-26, 2007 the ILO and its tripartite partners delegation visited Barnaul, Altai krai. The delegation consisted of Igor Shanin, Secretary of Federation of Independent Trade-Unions of Russia (FITUR), Mr. Vyacheslav Rozhkov, Director of cooperation with state bodies and public organizations, Coordinating Council of Employers’ Unions of Russia (CCEUR), Ms Elena Kudriavtseva, the ILO Moscow Office Focal Point on HIV/AIDS and the world of work, other specialists of the ILO Moscow Office.

During the mission a number of consultative meetings on counteracting HIV/AIDS among economically active population of Altai krai were held. The meetings were attended by the representatives of the Altai Regional administration – Boris Larin, Vice- Governor; Anatoliy Mishin, Chief of the Labour Department, Vladimir Arguchinskiy, Chairmandy of the Council of Independent Trade-Unions of Altai region, Evgeniy Ganeman, Union of Manufacturers Executive Director, Konstantin Zelentzov, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, by representatives of the Employment Service, Educational Centers on Occupational safety and health, Department of Education, HIV/AIDS Center and other institutions.
The consultations were concluded with the round table on January 26, 2007 devoted to the HIV/AIDS prevention in the region. The tripartite partners emphasized the need for joint efforts in HIV/AIDS prevention among working age population of Altai krai and discussed concrete forms of the partners’ participation in this work.
Previously, Altai krai hosted another project aimed at HIV/AIDS prevention – “Comprehensive partnership strategies of HIVSTI prevention among young people in the Russian Federation” (2003-2006). The positive results achieved under this project allowed the ILO and its partners in Altai krai to continue cooperation in HIV/AIDS prevention at the workplace.
