A tribute to Jacqui Maria Morris
She was taken in the bloom of her youth, but it is said that "blessed are they who leave good work behind", and she has certainly made an invaluable contribution to the ILO.

Jacqui Maria Morris joined the ILO Caribbean Office as a Finance and Programme Clerk on 1 October 2002. On 1 May 2008, she was elevated to Finance Assistant and six years later, her post was reclassified to Senior Finance Assistant. Jacqui was the quintessential Finance Assistant. She was the consummate professional of undeniable competence. She was also very meticulous and was always willing to help her colleagues. She worked tirelessly to get her job done from start to finish and on her own volition, she used to work additional hours even on weekends to ensure that her tasks were completed. Also, we appreciated her recommendations to ensure that processes ran more smoothly and efficiently.
Jacqui believed in the salvation of knowledge and education, and it was admirable that she had continued to pursue her ACCA qualifications. At the same time, she enrolled for a Diploma in International Public Financial Management that was organized by the ILO and The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy. Up to the time of her passing, she was successful in all the examinations that she had written. She also had a strong sense of determination, a characteristic that was spotted when she joined the Office. She had a drive and perseverance that was admired by many colleagues in the ILO worldwide.
Jacqui played an integral role in the Office, not only in her official role but also served on the Staff Union and the Local Salary Survey Committee. She will be remembered for fighting for the vaccines for all staff as well as making sure that local staff got the salaries that they deserved. We appreciated her “natural goodness” in this realm. At the same time, she always wanted to ensure that there was collegiality in the office. She has left an indelible mark on all of us.
We will always remember her smile and the cackle of her laughter when she heard a good joke. One of the brightest hopes in this Office has extinguished.
