Karaganda became Kazakhstan’s twelfth region, which hosted the training organized by the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the International Labour Organization, the federation’s chairman, Abelgazi Kuasainov said.

Magnus Berge said the trade unions’ mission was to pool efforts and to protect common interests using advantages that the majority has. There is no need to sign slogans on banners and take to streets, as all problems can be resolved at a negotiating table. However, Berge admitted that it was unnecessary to give up actions of protest, as “a strike is an effective instrument in this process, but it is not the tool to begin with.”
