Tajik leader orders increase in wages, pensions, stipends

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has ordered an increase in budget-funded wages, pensions and student stipends, the Tajik TV's First Channel reported on 3 August.

"In line with Article 103 of Tajikistan's Labour Code and Article 16 of the Tajik law `On pensions of citizens of Tajikistan' and with the aim of improving the population's living standards and raising the level of social security of the population, the president decreed that wages of workers of various categories of budget-funded institutions should be raised by 30, 40 and 50 per cent, pensions by 25 per cent and stipends by 40 per cent from 1 September 2011," the TV report said, quoting the presidential decree.
