Self-improvement of working conditions in agriculture and informal sector – adaptation of the ILO WIND programme
The ILO has started a project to adapt the WIND manual for use in Central Asia jointly with agricultural specialists and social partners in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.

The manual has been produced in Vietnam as a tool for Work Improvement in Neighbourhood Development (WIND) providing practical responses to the safety and health problems in agriculture. The manual is targeted directly to the rural population, with a very practical approach, clear and simple language, what-to-do checklists, drawings with practical solution and pictures of best practices.
A working group has been set up to adapt the manual (text, drawings and pictures) to the Central Asian situation. Experts in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Russia will test and review the adapted manual. A series of regional training seminars in the pilot country Kyrgyzstan are foreseen when the Kyrgyz language manual is ready.
A Russian language version will be disseminated though the Virtual Academy of Safework http://www.safework.ru due to the interest from different regions in Russia.
