Russian Duma ratifies accord on Tajik labour migrants' stay in country
Russia's State Duma ratified an agreement between Russia and Tajikistan on regulating Tajik citizens' stay in Russia. The agreement was signed by the two sides in Moscow on 8 February 2013.

Muhammad Egamzod, official representative of the Tajik embassy in Russia, told Asia-Plus that the document provides for releasing Tajik citizens, who temporarily reside in Russia, from the obligation of registration in the place of their stay in Russia by the authorities within 15 days from the date of their arrival.
"This period was seven days earlier, and henceforth, Tajik citizens can now stay in Russia without registering six days longer than other foreign citizens," he said.
Egamzod suggested that this agreement would create more favourable conditions for the stay of Tajik labour migrants in Russia. "At least our fellow citizens will have more time to legalize their arrival in Russia".
He was convinced that this step would ! help to strengthen and develop cooperation between the two countries in migration.
