Speaking at the ILO’s virtual skills fair, Shaza Jondi, ILO’s Chief Technical Adviser for PROSPECTS in the Arab States region, shares the story of Amal, a 19 year old Iraqi woman from the city of Dohuk in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq who is keen to develop her skills and build a future for herself that is productive and which contributes to the community in which she lives, despite the many challenges and hurdles in her life.
The ILO is working with UNICEF and other partners to support youth make a smooth transition to decent work and adapting successful models in different programme across the region through exchanging knowledge, skills, resources and technical know-how. Ms. Jondi highlights the unique opportunities provided by the PROSPECTS partnership in fostering South South collaboration and cooperation amongst countries affected by forced displacement.
