Role of Social Partnership in Reduction of the Share of Informal Economy – a Round Table in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region
A Round Table of social partners “Role of social partnership in reduction of the share of informal economy” was held on July 10 and 11, 2015 in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Republic Tajikistan, one of the most remote high-mountain regions of Central Asia.

The event also served as the beginning of implementation of the country Decent Work Program signed on June 24, 2015, by the trade unions of Tajikistan. The country program gives special attention to pooling and coordination of efforts of the social partners for reduction of the share of informal economy which is one of the most critical challenges for the country.
Purpose of the event was to prepare an action plan and formulate the objectives of the social partners for reduction of the share of informal economy.
Sergejus Glovackas, Senior Specialist in Workers' Activities of the ILO Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia noted the importance of ILO Recommendation #203 on informal economy adopted at the recent session of the International Labour Conference, and called on all parties to make efforts for its implementation.
At the Round Table, the trade unions of Tajikistan reaffirmed their preparedness to be initiators in development of the national strategy for reduction of the share of informal economy and to call on both the state and the employers for active involvement in those efforts.
The Round Table is a part of the joint action plan for Republic Tajikistan for reduction of the share of informal economy, and it finalizes the cycle of the regional events on this subject held in all regions of the country jointly with the ILO.
