Research on the impact of migration on educational outcomes of children of migrants
In collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Innovations for Poverty Action, Yale University is conducting the study "The Impact of Migration on Educational Outcomes of Left-Behind Children: Evidence from the Philippines”.
The research focuses on the relationship between the presence or absence of migrant parents and the academic performance of children, and seeks to relate the influence of migration-related practices or policies on the decision of parents to migrate. Results of this study will help inform relevant government agencies in reviewing programmes and services for OFWs and their families, especially children, as well as in drawing policy recommendations on recruitment and reintegration of OFWs.
The study entails survey with OFWs and their households. Participation is voluntary and any information provided will be kept confidential and used for research purposes only.
