Presentation on “the SDGs and the ILO” at the 25th One World Festival in Osaka

Ms. Akiko Taguchi, Director, ILO Office for Japan made a keynote lecture on “the SDGs and the ILO – what I can do right now” in a workshop at the One World Festival. This workshop was organised by Kinki Labour Bank to raise public awareness on the SDGs.
The keynote lecture was followed by a panel, joined by two NGO members, Japanese Consumers’ Co-operative Union (JCCU) and Kinki Labour Bank.
After the event, more than 70 participants of the workshop made their own statement about what they can do to achieve the SDGs. Most of them replied that the workshop helped increase their understanding of the SDGs.

The ‘One World Festival’ is one of the biggest International Cooperation Festival in western Japan, participated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, local government, a number of NGO/NPOs, educational organizations, and businesses. The festival aims at bringing together varying organizations to promote the importance of world peace, respect for human rights, protection of the environment, and cross-cultural understanding. After the adoption of the SDGs in 2015, promoting the SDGs and its implementation have become one of the main topics at the festival.
