Peruvian prosecutors have a new case law platform to strengthen the fight against trafficking in persons
Prosecutors received training in the practical use of this platform, which compiles and systematizes case law associated with trafficking, in order to improve argumentation in court hearings.

Lima - Peruvian prosecutors specialized in trafficking have an innovative tool to strengthen the fight against trafficking and other related crimes in our country.
The case law platform or matrix on trafficking was developed by the ILO and the National Coordination of Specialized Prosecution Offices for Trafficking in Persons.
To promote its use, prosecutors from the districts of Lima, Callao, Loreto, Cusco, Puno and Madre de Dios participated in a practical workshop, where they explored the potential of this tool, which provides a systematized compilation of case law to improve argumentation in court hearings.
The prosecutors actively participated in simulated hearings with complex cases, playing the roles of both prosecutors and defense attorneys, in order to apply the knowledge acquired to effectively use the platform.
The workshop methodology allowed for active and practical participation, which was really beneficial to prosecutors specialized in trafficking. At the end of each simulation, the prosecutors discussed the application of the case law found and the recommendations for improvement in future court hearings.
“This case law matrix is a very important tool for the enhancement of the legal capacities to combat trafficking in Peru,” stated Julio Rodriguez, ILO expert in criminal prosecution and trafficking in persons.
