Peruvian and Argentinian prosecutors share strategies and best practices to combat trafficking in persons

Buenos Aires - Peruvian prosecutors specialized in trafficking participated in a study tour in Buenos Aires to exchange knowledge and strategies for the investigation and prosecution of trafficking and labor exploitation crimes with their Argentine counterparts.

The study tour included the participation of Prosecutors from the Specialized Prosecution Offices for Trafficking of Central Lima, North Lima, Cusco and Loreto, who were accompanied by a Supreme Prosecutor and a Deputy Prosecutor from the District Victim and Witness Assistance Unit.

In addition to the discussion of cases and best practices, the study tour also included the exploration of advanced strategies in cyber-investigation, an increasingly relevant aspect in the investigation of trafficking cases in digital environments.

The prosecutors returned to Peru with increased knowledge, new tools and a reinforced network of international contacts, which will undoubtedly contribute to improving the investigation and prosecution of crimes related to trafficking in Peru.

“These types of international study tours are essential to strengthen cooperation between countries in the fight against trafficking in persons and related crimes and reaffirm the commitment of Peru and Argentina to combat that crime,” said Julio Rodriguez, ILO expert in criminal prosecution and trafficking in persons.
