Panel consultation on the ILO’s Future of Work Initiative in Azerbaijan
On 17 March 2017 the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan conducted a first panel consultation on the ILO’s Future of Work Initiative with participation of social partners, concerned government agencies, universities and academic staff including National Academy of Sciences and private sector. Following these discussions at the Ministry the panel consultations held in Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA), Confederation of Trade Unions and Confederation of Employers (Entrepreneurs).

The ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Heinz Koller made an introduction at the opening ceremony. Senior Employment Specialist of the ILO DWT/CO-Moscow Mikhail Pouchkin provided an overview of the ILO Future of Work Initiative. The ILO Master Trainer Azad Rahimov briefed on the ministry’s initiative to create a group of professional trainers on employment and development. Emil Asgarov – National Expert – made a special presentation of the National Report “Future of Work Initiative”.
The participants noted that in fact the ILO has already assisted the country in designing a package of forward-looking policy measures aimed to tackle a new economic reality and challenges of the future. The package covered macroeconomic measures, employment policy, economy diversification measures and institutional measures such as modernization of the Public Employment Service.
