Official visit of the ILO Moscow office delegation to Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan to discuss the Decent Work Pilot Programme.

On 17-21 March 2003 the ILO Moscow office - Ms. Martina Lubyova, Senior Employment Specialist, Ms. Mariko Ouchi, Associate Expert on Social Security and Ms. Svetlana Misikhina, External Collaborator - paid an official visit to Kazakhstan to discuss the Decent Work Pilot Programme.
The main goal of the mission was to initiate activities of the “Integrated Approach to Social Sphere in Kazakhstan”, which is a part of the ILO Decent Work Pilot Programme. The first tier of the approach is represented by a joint ILO/UNDP project aimed at the assessment of a newly introduced targeted social assistance scheme in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The second tier of the DWPP should be focused at local economic development in Kazakhstan, in particular at our DWPP site – Karagandinskaya oblast. A secondary objective of the mission was to discuss with our PRSP partners upcoming TC activities in Central Asia.
Mission programme also included a number of meetings with our constituents both in Astana and Almaty, including a round-table tripartite discussion of our Integrated Approach to the Social Sphere in Kazakhstan organized by the Ministry of Labour in Astana.
