New occupational safety and health research database revealed
This new OSH research community is a database which enables research to be showcased and used by all those with an interest in the subject. The database is a home for research in the form of papers, articles, presentations and reports. It is a place to share and discover not just published research but also ongoing and newly formed projects.
This website also provides a platform for up-and-coming researchers to showcase their undergraduate projects in the student research area of the site. It offers a focused, dedicated and freely available resource to help people with their work, study and professional development.
As well as research, the database can help bring together experts to collaborate, share their knowledge as speakers at events, peer review and find funding opportunities.
The site works on the principle that researchers will register and upload their own material. Behind the scenes, this will be approved before it goes live to ensure quality and that the principal investigator has given their permission for its publication. The site is free to access and for anyone just wishing to explore and search, there is no registration.
Users are invited to explore the site and become part of the community by uploading any research they see fit. Research does not have to be commissioned or funded by IOSH. The website claims to be a sharing platform for all work, from all people and from all parts of the globe.
As a community platform for researchers and OSH professionals, the database is an important step for those who champion evidence-based policy-making. IOSH, an active member of the CIS network, encourages the sharing of information openly and freely.
