New Lean training programme in Pakistan tailored to medium and large enterprises
Under the ILO’s International Labour and Environmental Standards Application in Pakistan’s SMEs (ILES) project funded by the European Union, the ILO office for Pakistan is launching a customised version of the SCORE Programme in Pakistan called the SCORE Lean Programme

The new SCORE Lean Programme is a training programme specifically designed to cater to the needs of medium to large enterprises. In the first cohort, 13 master trainers have been trained from August to September 2022 in Karachi, Sindh. The SCORE Lean programme will be implemented in the initial batch of five enterprises. The second cohort of trainers will be trained in Lahore in the first quarter of 2023, so that the SCORE programme will be expanded to the Punjab Province.
The ILES project had previously implemented the SCORE short course programme successfully in 26 enterprises in the textile and ready-made garments sector in Karachi, Sindh. It received a remarkable satisfaction rate of 88%, and further training requests from 93% of the participating enterprises. These enterprises reported various improvements, including reduced product defect rates, reduced energy bills, improved productivity, better quality of production and improved labour retention rate, which ultimately contributed to significant financial benefits to their businesses.
The implementation of SCORE Training in Pakistan is part of the three-tier enterprises approach of the ILES project targeted at the textile and ready-made garment industry in Pakistan. More details concerning the project can be found through this link.
