New Labour and Social Protection Minister appointed in Kazakhstan.

On August 27, Berdybek Saparbayev was appointed new Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Kazakhstan. Before taking this post he was Deputy Economics and Budget Planning Minister.

Berdybek Saparbayev was born in 1953.

He graduated from the Almaty Institute of National Economy and holds doctor’s degree in economics. He held various posts - governor of the Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions (1995-1999, 1999-2002), the head of Kazakhstan’s customs control agency (2002-2004), deputy finance minister and customs control committee chief (2004-2006), and the deputy head of the prime minister’s secretariat (2006).

In 1999, he was awarded the Kurmet order for distinguished service in economic development.

B. Saparbayev is the Honorary President of the Kazakhstan Handball Federation.

Former Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Kazakhstan Gulzhana Kuragusova became a member of the lower house of Kazakhstan’s parliament.
