New ILO Labour Inspection Guidelines discussed in Spain at International Forum
The event took place in Valencia in November 2022 and brought together high representatives from more than a hundred countries.

High labour inspection representatives from more than 100 countries met in Valencia (Spain) at the First International Technical Forum of Senior Labour Inspectors, convened and organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) with the collaboration of the Government of Spain through the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy. The Forum, which was held on 17 and 18 November 2022, aimed to discuss the new Guidelines on the general principles of labour inspection that were approved by the ILO Governing Body in March 2022.
The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gilbert F. Houngbo, closed the event together with the Second Vice-President of the Spanish Government and Minister of Labour and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz.
The conference sessions covered the structure and organization of labour inspection systems in the changing world of work, policies and strategies for the best use of labour inspection resources, collaboration with the social partners and innovative approaches to effective implementation.
In the context of this International Forum, the Ibero-American Network of Labour Inspectorates was also set up, comprising Spain, Portugal and 13 Latin American countries, with the secretariat of the ILO. Its purpose is the exchange of knowledge on good practices and inspection models.
