The ILO in collaboration with its constituents in Tanzania, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) and Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) is organizing on 7th of May 2015, in Dar es Salaam, the above conference aimed at showcasing the successes of The Youth Entrepreneurship Facility (YEF) project over the past five years. The conference, to be officiated by the Hon. Minster of Labour and Employment, Ms. Gaudencia Kabaka, will be attended by government representatives, development partners, the private sector, the civil society, youth organizations; researchers; and project beneficiaries.
The overall objective of the above project, executed in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania since 2010, is to promote of decent work for young Africans, both as a means of self-employment and as job creation .
Special emphasis was given to creating decent jobs, fostering entrepreneurship and providing greater opportunities for young African men and women through education, skills development and access to finance.
Todate, the YEF has unleashed entrepreneurial potential of more than 30,000 emerging and existing entrepreneurs through the business development training, supported the start- up and growth of 17,000 businesses and the creation of 40,000 jobs for young people, by far exceeding the initial outreach and impact targets.
The conference will be an opportunity for presenting project results and investments on skills and entrepreneurship; on improving the productivity of young people, and on sustainable business models and offshoots that are expected to carry forward some activities of the project.
