Kyrgyzstan set to strengthen social protection floors

At the end of March Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Social Development with the support of the ILO and the European Union held a meeting in Bishkek to discuss and adopt a national roadmap on strengthening social protection floors for children and families living in difficult conditions.

The meeting gathered about 100 parliamentarians, social partners, representatives of civil society, international organizations and journalists. It was opened by Acting Prime Minister Dzhoomart Otorbayev and deputy speaker of parliament Nadira Narmatova.

Delegates analysed main outcomes of and obstacles to implementing the Social Protection Development Strategy for 2012-2014 and discussed priorities of the Social Protection Development Strategy for 2015-2017 with a focus on strengthening child-sensitive social protection system.

Stakeholders expressed their commitment to finalizing a national roadmap in compliance with the Social Protection Development Strategy for 2012-2014.
