Kazakh leader urges small business development

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev praised the industrial and innovative development of the republic’s Southern Kazakhstan Region, where he had paid a visit.

“Now, we do not need giant enterprises, we need the ones that employ 20, 30 or 50 people. These are flexible production facilities. The whole of Germany receives 90 percent of production from small and medium-sized businesses. Therefore, it was easier for Germany to weather the economic downturn than for others,” Nazarbayev said.

“It is important that the Kazakh people, mostly young ones, are interested in running their own businesses,” he said adding that the authorities should create all necessary conditions for this.
