Kazakh agency reports HIV incidence statistics

In all 171 new carriers of HIV infection were registered in Kazakhstan in February 2012, and at the same time the figure for the same period of 2011 is 180, the Kazakh State Statistics Agency has reported. In all, 355 new carriers of HIV-positive were detected in Kazakhstan in January-February this year, and the figure for the same period of last year is 316. As is known, according to statistics, 1,989 new carriers of HIV infection were reported in the country in 2011. According to figures provided by the Kazakh republican centre on preventing and combating HIV/AIDS, 18,260 HIV-positive were registered in the country from the beginning of the registration of this infection to 1 April 2012.
