International labour standards on social security – capacity building training workshop in Kyrgyzstan
On May 21-23, a three-day training workshop on international social security standards for members of the working group responsible for drafting Kyrgyzstan’s Social Protection Development Strategy for 2015-2017 took place in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

It was organized jointly with the ILO projects “From the crisis towards decent and safe jobs – Phase 2” and “Combating child labour in Central Asia - commitment becomes action” in close collaboration with Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Social Development.
The workshop was aimed at raising awareness on the Social Protection Floors (SPF) Recommendation, 2012 (No. 202), discussing the possibility of establishing national SPF as well as child-sensitive approach to social protection, redefining priorities of the future Social Protection Development Strategy for 2015-2017 and boosting commitment of all stakeholders to combat child labour in Kyrgyzstan.
“ILO’s conventions and recommendations set the groundwork for social policy,” said Erik Kuikeyev, Deputy Minister of Social Development of Kyrgyzstan. “The Social Security (Minimum Standards) Convention, 1952 (No. 102) is the flagship of all conventions of the ILO on social security.”
The workshop brought together 32 participants, members of the working group from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Labour, Migration and Youth, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Internal Affair and the state agency on local self-governance and interethnic relations.
